There are about 40 emails in my inbox that I need to respond to. Last time I blogged, I made it a policy to not bother responding to every piece of mail. That was nice of me. Lately, I've been spending more time reading other blogs that I like, and it's dawned on me that if I am moved enough to actually email the blogger and say something nice, it would really suck if they didn't even respond to me, even just to say "thanks". Ya know? You'd wonder if your mail ever even got to them, you'd wonder how they have enough time to write long rambling posts but not two lines to you, you'd wonder if they just thought you were a loser and not worth a reply, you'd wonder why you wasted your time sending it, etc. At least that's what I would think, unless I specifically said in the note that no reply was necessary.
So this time around I've decided to at least TRY to answer every email, even if it takes me three weeks. I am just a nicer person than I used to be; my mom even said so just last weekend (despite all the cussing). Anyway, I've you've emailed me, please forgive the delay but I'll be getting on it Sunday morning when I'm all cracked out on coffee and donuts.
And for the half-dozen of you who've requested more pics of Sunny, here she is as I found her the day after she turned Mr. Fence-Jumping Pit Bull into her bitch (she's never been allowed on the furniture). I let her stay there; she and I both agreed she'd earned some sofa-napping rights. Who's a good girl? Sunny! That's who.

There's nothing more wonderful than seeing one's dog lolling contentedly on a couch.

(I've been gone a bit and couldn't read you for a couple days, just catching up, and I wanted to add this to the Cussing Challenge post but I'll just put it here.)
I think you would love Trailer Park Boys, hands down the best Canadian show ever, and one of the funniest on TV. Your cussing challenge reminded me of one of their best episodes, "If I Can't Smoke and Swear, I'm F--ked." Here's a link (lots of swearing, nsfw, obviously):

Rachel,
Cool, I was honored at your taking the time to personally respond to my email, and yes you guessed right as to whether I am in fact the commenter, Retrocop. The nickname came about from a rookie a couple of years ago. I had sent a case back to him for some additional information, and told him that as a detective I at least needed a point to start "detecting" from. He told me that I was a real "retrocop" and patrol officers did not have time for such detail these days. Of course now, a couple of years own the road, he sees things more my way.

Cool,
Thanks for the personal reply, Rachel. You guessed right, I am indeed the commenter, Retrocop (I got the nickname from a rookie a couple of years ago). I love the blog and I always manage to check it from time to time for new posts (at least most days when the caseload pile on the corner of my desk isn't threatening to tip it over).
