Hot chicks, evil terrorists, wounded veterans, you can help.

I can't use my blog only for evil; I must do some good also. There are a couple of causes I'm getting behind and you should, too:

FIRST: There's a t-shirt company called RangerUp, which is owned by current and former military men, and they've started a project called Operation GRIM, to support wounded veterans (who we all know aren't getting what they need from the government or the rest of us). Basically, you can buy the shirt, donate money, and/or email Maxim magazine asking them to put their totally hot model and an awesome mixed martial-arts expert/Iraq war veteran wearing the shirts in the magazine.

How can you not get behind HER? Wink wink. 100% of the profits from the shirt go to helping badly wounded soldiers. I really like this cause so I'm buying a shirt and emailing Maxim, and I hope many of you do, too. Also gonna put a permanent link to it in my sidebar (not a paid ad, obviously).

David at Gullyborg let me know about Operation GRIM. Tons of thanks to him.

SECOND: Reader Rickbert tells me that a group of Whittle's readers are doing something called the YouTube Smackdown, which requires no money and only a little effort for you to help with. Here's the deal: Towelheaded terrorists are using YouTube to post tons of Jihad videos, and for some unfathomable reason, YouTube lets them stay on.

I have a seriously HUGE personal beef with this dammit (aside from the fact that it's completely wrong and evil). About a year ago, I posted a video showing the following: squirrel on tree trunk, John throwing very small rock at squirrel, and squirrel jumping into the path of the rock, which would not have hit him if he'd stayed on the tree. The squirrel got pinged but you can plainly see him landing on the ground and running away unharmed. It was one of the most hilarious 15 seconds I've ever witnessed. Anyway, within an HOUR of posting that, it was removed by YouTube and I got an email saying it contained "inappropriate content" and was against the rules because it showed "cruelty to animals". One viewer had flagged it, and it got yanked. WHAT? THE? HELL?

No squirrel pinging allowed, but Islamic dickheads can post all the videos they want, calling on people to join the Jihad against the infidels (that means YOU). It's truly abominable. QuothTheRaven shows you what to do about this:

Jihadist videos have found a home at YouTube. Our enemies are using this site to spread propaganda and recruit new terrorists. We're going to shut them down. To play along you need to do the following:

1. Log into YouTube and run a search. Any of the following key words will land you in the right spot: IED, Jihad, Death to Israel, Islamic Republic of Iraq, etc. You won't have any trouble finding them; they are legion.
2. Open the jihadist video, then click the icon that says "Flag as inappropriate." Use the drop down menu and click on "hate speech."
3. This last step is going to take a great deal of self-control. You're going to see a lot of comments cheering on the terrorists as they blow up American and allied soldiers. Don't answer these comments directly. We want your comment directed at YouTube management. Something like: "This video aids and abets our enemies in time of war and should be deleted" will be sufficient.

Do it. I know plenty of you are bored enough in your cubicles today to buy a shirt for the wounded soldiers and flag some terror assholes' videos. It'll make you feel good, and I'm pretty sure you want to feel good. Please do it.

"This video aids and abets our enemies in time of war and should be deleted" is not the best wording. Google is run by a bunch of radical leftists, and they don't have any problem with aiding and abetting our enemies; they want us to lose the war.

I suggest something more like this: "This video expresses religious intolerance and racist hatred. It advocates the slaughter of innocent people for political gain. It should be deleted immediately and the person who posted it should be banned."

Rachel, Thank You for posting the links! I didn't know about the squirrel video but it doesn't suprise me.

After about a week of trudging thru YouTube's sewers, I can add a few notes:

1. You might not want to post comments. We're having a tough time getting YouTube's attention by flagging the mostly 'graphic violence & hate speech' videos. But we're getting lots of attention (i.e. hate mail) from the jihadi posters, and YouTube allows any poster to block comments from any account they don't like. That's right, jihadi snuff films are ok, but objecting to them via comments is a censorable offense.

2. If you do post comments, make sure you check your profile to make sure there is no personally identifiable information you may have entered when you registered on YouTube (or your google account). Also, the profile pages for these guys often have links to their own sites, and I wouldn't follow them unless you have a strong stomach and are confident in your computer's security (browser settings, anti-virus, firewall).

3. It's still a bit early to draw firm conclusions, but early testing suggests the following: flag politically incorrect videos and you have a fair chance of seeing them deleted. White guys using the 'n-word' have been been taken down with a single flag. Anti-semitism is a mixed bag, most videos calling for the death of all Jews seem to stay up, whoever calls for it. Multiple flaggings of jihadi snuff films will be preserved unless the state of decay on the corpses is especially advanced. There have been a few successes in seeing jihadi videos taken down, but it's an uphill battle.

Lastly, given that YouTube has installed a means of allowing posters to block comments, it's possible the YouTube staff has similar intermal mechanisms to filter out people flagging too many of the kinds of videos they prefer to retain. It may be better to flag a few videos a day than dozens in a single sitting.

Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to mention a few precautions worth taking, and to give some initial results. Thanks again.

Thanks Rickbert - I thought about mentioning some of that, which I'd read in the comments on Quoth, but I got in a hurry. So it's awesome that you added it here, thank u!!

Squirrels are definitely terrorists too!

Also - I'm much happier about giving to a cause if they describe what help is being provided. Example: Buying prosthetics? I'm there.

Squirrels are evil! Thank God my Quinn (Siberian Husky) is a fantastic squirrel hunter. She's killed at least 10!!!

So a lot of the videos I'm pulling up are from Joey Jihad...that's stupid.

What if I can't understand what hte video is even saying. It sure sounds like it's a promotion of Jihad. :( But I don't know if I should flag it since I don't understand it. Although the bird noises with the gun shots is interesting.

There are some hilarious comments though! I Love this one! "May a thousand camels with the runs fly over your compound."

This one is a little more obvious.

Rachel,

I hate to point out the obvious to you; Your being intelligent, politically astute and most of all, FUNNY, as you know your Bad Self™ obviously is, but, I must.

Clearly, if you could have somehow made it clear the squirrel was a Christian or a Republican (both is a huge bonus), we would all (and many more) be enjoying that video on YouTube to this day.

We all make mistakes, especially me.

Rachel: You're missing an obvious money-raising combination.

You should be militating to raise funds for Operation GRIM BY having youself photographed for Maxim in said T-shirt.

You could then go on to sell autographed copies of that photo and not have to work again... or at least work very hard.

Tanya [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Could that model look any more bored?

Thanks for the links. Good causes are always welcome.

Reminds of the time, before the 2004 elections, when I had some bumper stickers drawn up and tried to sell them on eBay. They said, "WWOVF? Who Would Osama Vote For?" The listing lasted about a day.

Rachel,

Thanks from the crew at QuotheRaven for linking us. The success of Operation YouTube Smackdown will depend on the number of volunteers we can recruit for the effort. Any effort by your readers to help us knock down individual videos is appreciated, but spreading the news to other websites/bloggers is vital. We need volunteers in the thousands. We're gonna be a major pain in the arse to YouTube and the Jihadist swine who pollute the Internet with their filth. Welcome aboard. And don't feel like you have to pull any punches on this issue. Lay on!

Operation GRIM? Been there. Done that. Bought the T-shirt! Literally!

Iran Arrests Squirrels for Spying

"A dozen squirrels were captured by Iranian intelligence who claimed the rodents had been outfitted with electronic detection devices."

So that's it. They took down your squirrel video from YouTube because... you broke their cover!

Ummm...I'm sorry, lost my train of thought. What was this post about again?
