Shock and awe.

I am still toiling in the bowels of PHP, HTML, and CSS, and I would still like to beat someone's ass. Who writes the documentation for this stuff? Do they not understand that some of us don't have degrees in software engineering? Assholes! My hero, known in the comments around here as phineas g., has via email managed to reverse me from my headlong march towards apocalyptic destruction. That is seriously how I feel.

I work hard for you people. Hard! You better comment your freaking asses off when I get this conversion done. You won't even have to register to comment anymore, that is how fabulous I am. All this coffee and editing and spazzing out is making italicize too much!

Anyway, check it out, here's the real reason I wanted to post. I must convey to you the outrageous stunning surprise that I experienced yesterday when I received my brand-new passport in the mail. It was so mindblowing because I had zero expectations that the "expedite" fee I paid ($60) would actually result receiving the passport in anything less than four to six weeks because that's what I've heard on the streets.

But can you possibly guess how long it really did take? TWO WEEKS, PEOPLE.

Two! Fucking! Weeks!

I went to the closest post office that does passports on August 29, got my picture taken and had the application sent off, and that damn thing arrived in my mailbox on September 13.

Things aren't supposed to happen that way. You are not supposed to be able to achieve success when dealing with postal employees or the federal government in general. Someone somewhere along the line is supposed to fuck it all up and ruin your day or even your life. It is just the nature of things.

So clearly, I'm profoundly pleased. Borderline ecstatic. Because now Rupert can buy our tickets to Italy for this winter. That's right, suckahs, Rachel's going to ITALY. Florence and Rome, baby!

I'll have the blog transferred over this afternoon. I hope.

UPDATE: Actually, here. That's where I have the new stuff going on; if you want to go there to comment or whatever, do it. When I transfer it all over later, your comments will stay, of course. I just did an import of the last few entries and their comments, and one is already showing there for this one. COOL!

Most stories I've head have the "expedited" passports taking upwards of 3 weeks! You're very lucky to get it in only 2!

Unless, someone in the federal government is anxious to get you out of the country....

Looks good kiddo! :-)

You ARE going to go to that really pretty city in Italy, aren't you?

Uh, what's it called?

Uh....

Portofina.

Of course, it's not as purty as where I growed up---Crotch Rash Junction.
